Just stop thinking about him..

Ok he stopped calling you...it would normally mean that he;s not interested anymore. it was an online relationship anyways, nothing was guaranteed he might have been a serial killer and u would have never know. just let it go and move on with your life. if he wanted you he would've come and take you.

What is it like to live and work in Saudi Arabia as a female

What is it like to live and work in Saudi Arabia as a female?
I will be recruiting students for academic study does anyone know if I will find this more difficult to do as a Woman or would it depend on a number of factors? would it matter if I was married or single also any pointers on social etiquette would be fantastic. I'm only asking the question because I have heard so much conflicting information. I hope I will get an honest answer here. Many Thanks

i was there for 6 years and found it amazing to be mixing with another culture. you have to follow their rules/laws. in some areas, all the women must wear the burqa (face cover). should not talk to men in public.
2 :
It depends on your job and country, assuming you are a westerner working for a university you won't face any big problems, the biggest problem is the weather, and depends on which city are you going to you might have to wear a black cloak named abaya, you don't have to wear burqa.
3 :
regarding people; if you are interested in other cultures you will like it as you can learn new things every day..breaks the routine if you are patient at the beginning...plus the more recent western life style they are starting to accommodate with..YOU WILL SURVIVE :P regarding weather; from December to April its awesome..from may to September its disastrous
4 :
depends on weather u can survive in any other culture and hot weather. working as women in saudi arabia is fine u will work with ur female staff and its fine and ur not allowed to drive.

what wud u do as a female, if u'd to live in a society like saudi arabia, where women are segregated from male?
If you were a female and had to live in a country like Saudi Arabia, where there's strict segregation between unrelated males and females, what would you do, being a female? Would you go crazy?

i am fortunate woman being able to live in freedom in my society. but was a time where my grand mothers and great grand mothers didnt have much more freedom than in saudia . id do as they did my best . seems to me its about all we can do . my grand mother became a teacher . she wasnt paid but she did it to teach the woman to read and write. she helped opened the doors for the future woman of my society take good care emy
2 :
why dont you ask a saudi women... believe it or not many muslim women like the lifestyle they live... i know its hard for you to comprehend
3 :
Well, technically, you wouldn't be able to DO anything. Men are more powerful than women, physically, at least. So if your options were between an arranged marriage, little control over things, but the right to live, or: seeing who you want, having unknown power, but being stoned to death if somebody found out--what do you think someone's going to choose? I would try to secretly save the money to move to Australia--the most politically clean country in the world today--but, other than that, there would be nothing. And, yes, I WOULD go crazy.

People that are from the states living in Saudi Arabia? What state did come from?
when was the last time you visited? What do you miss the most? Do you feel homesick? Born and raised in Florida (love it, miss it, and can't wait to go back)

I'm from the midwest. I visited this year alhamdulillah, but we probably won't go again until late 2010 or 2011. I miss my family most, and then shopping. I like the sales in the US better than here. Everything is cheaper in the US, and if you don't like something, it's very easy to return it, even if you used it! I also miss the seasons and seeing the grass and trees. Spring is so beautiful in the US.

I'm from DC. Sure I miss some things in the US, mainly the convenience of services...and the winter *sigh*. I haven't been back for a year now, and I can't say I miss it....yet. I like the family/social/culture scene here in the desert. There is a zest for life here which I highly appreciate.

I'm from the midwest(have lived in a few states including Illinois, Northwest Indiana, Missouri) I don't feel homesick but I do miss the US sometimes. I would say I miss the seasons changing, snow in the winter with a big mud of hot cocoa by the fireplace. Going and watching my brothers play little league baseball in the spring. Especially the green grass and trees and all the beautiful flowers people plant in their yards. I miss being able to take walks outside. Lemonade in the summer and watching the neighbors kids play in the sprinkler. Taking the convertible out for a drive. I miss the classy restaurants where your meal is prepared by an actual chef and they serve coffee after dinner. But you know the strange thing is that when I stay there for a long time I start to miss Saudi. It really is like having 2 homes.
