social contraints.. you cannot date (or openly date in town). when you go out, men have seperate entries into cafe's and restaurants. no bars, clubs, discos, theaters. Most venues are for married or families. If you live in a large private gated community housing, you probably will have more social activities to do with your own countrymen there.. education there isnt really any problems. We have good international english language schools that follow American and British curriculeums.. Most though only school the children up to 9th grade, then its up to the parents to find a highschool for them.. Most send them back to their home country. Some here in the eastern region of Khobar city. send their older kids to Bahrain to finish highschool (its 30min away) work related issues.. none particular that are unique to Saudi, except that if you are working alongside women, you cant get to chummy chummy with them, and you'd never invite them out to the coffee shop for lunch.. You do your thing and they do theirs..

Read "In the Land of the Invisible Woman". It was written by a woman doctor who was born, raised, educated and lived her entire life in the US and the UK (her family was Pakistani but emigrated prior to her birth). While much of the book is about her experience as a woman expat in S.A., she also talks about a lot of the differences in how medicine is practiced, trained for and viewed by others in Saudi Arabia.

you need to see a solicitor ask them http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ar_1k3AsqUD9idDk7JLiVOnty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080921074350AA3RR62

talk to your sponsor to change your profession to engineer, sales rep, or anything valid as per passports edpartment regulation, mechanic is low qualification labour, and low wage labour, therefore you can't request a family visa.
3 :
goodluck on that.. some companies are reluctant to change it for you, but they are the ones that have to request the change.. and it costs them, so they stall and delay or ignore your requests.. please be patient and try to request from your boss this..
4 :
.....family status are given to professionals like engineers, doctors, lawyers, accountants, etc and it should be stated in your Iqama. If it states Mechanic, then you're considered as a skilled employee and not a professional so no family status.....
