hey its very easy to move there... but being an american you might not want to move there, unless you want to leive in fear. you likly to get shot, kindaped for ransome or something. ive been shot 2 times in saudi.
2 :
depends are you male or female what profession are you in and will you get work there all thing to worry bout oh yeah and the being american thing as well ???
3 :
It is not easy to move there. Saudi Arabia is one of the most difficult countries to move to or even just visit, though they are opening up to some tourism. Most people who work in Saudi Arabia get their jobs in their home country and then are transferred over to Arabia. Their company usually pays for their visa, housing, salary, and school for their kids (if married and have kids). If you are single, you will likely be put in a place with other single men from your company. If you want to move there, contact businesses who operate in the Kingdom and they will let you know more. Aramco is one of the largest and has mostly Americans working for them (though it is Saudi run and controlled).

as "gomideast" said Saudi Arabia, sadly, is very difficult to get in. You should have a reason for the visit. If it was for some kind of work it will be easier for you to get a visa but if was for tourism it will depend on the time you are coming in. Try to avoid Haj season or Ramadan, unless you want to go to Haj, because every body is applying for a visa. If you want to stay in Saudi Arabia it will be easier for you to come with a work visa and then try to renew it.
5 :
In order to work in Saudi Arabia, you need to have a sponser & a work permit. other than that you will not be able to even travel to Saudi Arabia. It doesn't matter if you are married or not. so if you do want to move to Saudi Arabia you better start sending your cv to companies there.

Question for people who live in Saudi Arabia

Question for people who live in Saudi Arabia?
Would you please answer my questions honestly? 1) Is it true that in Saudi Arabia women aren't allowed to drive? 2) Is it true that men have four wives at the same time and they live together peacefully? Is it true that most of the people out there are totally agree with their king (no political protest or so)? 4) Is it true that they are quite low at electronic and they just import their needed materials? Thank you!

I don't live there but my boyfriend has. 1) Yes it is true. They can't drive. 2) Most men only have one wife. The Koran allows for men to have more than one wife if they are all treated equally, but it is not widely practiced as far as I know. 3) I don't know 4) Probably.
2 :
1. Yes. We have personal drivers and even though we don't like it that much... we get to be backseat drivers. 2. No. Not all men marry more than 1. We women are jealous creatures. We don't like to share our men. However, some women are more patient than others. As a woman... you should know that. No 1 likes to share, whether it be with another wife or an extramarital affair / fling. 3. Yes, people pretty much support the King. He is a wonderful, giving man. God bless him. There would probably be protests, if we had a king with the qualities of George Bush. 4. Well... we love to import the BEST, advanced electronics. Remember that Saudi has the oil. There is nothing wrong with trades n imports. You are welcome.
3 :
1. yes, women cannot drive inside the cities. Some women drive in rural areas. Also, women can drive inside some compounds, such as Aramco. 2. Most men only marry one wife at a time. In the past, it was more common to have more than one wife, but usually just 2, not 4. Sometimes they would all live together in the same house, and sometimes in separate houses, or the house would be divided into a duplex. By the way, the houses here are HUGE compared to the houses in the US, so it's not so hard to imagine living with another family in the same house. 3. I don't know. There's no reason to protest because there's a lot of benefits to having a king rather than a democracy. For example, no taxes. 4. All the best electronics are available here. We have everything...top of the line.
4 :
1. Yes. But also, most women have personal drivers/chauffeurs, there are public (safe) taxis to take. 2. Not really. Most men with two/three/four wives are rich, each wife lives in a separate house, and they hate each other. Some men live with two wives in the same house, it's uncommon and weird even in Saudi! There are strict rules to marrying more than one wife, like providing equally and spending equal amount of time with each wife. 3. Everyone does NOT agree with the King, protest are illegal. You can get killed or worst for speaking against the government. People talk amongst themselves though... 4. I don't get it?! But there are local and imported good from all over the world. Luxury brands, sports brands, niche and others are all available here in Saudi!

1. women aren't allowed to drive in saudi arabia. to make a virtue out of necessity i could add the traffic here is so mind-bogglingly bad, its a wonder anyone wants to drive here! 2. I doubt any woman would live in harmony with her husband's other wives. although i don't think having more than one wives is a common practice here bcos saudis tend to marry within families. i am assuming it could lead to intra-family complications if the man marries again. However having said that divorce and remarriage are both quite common. 3. I don't think all Saudis agree hundred per cent with their king - however there is no space for dissent. Having said that the royal family lavishes a lot of care and money on its citizens to help them forget any other inconveniences! 4. By this do you mean they are poor at manufacturing? So is Britian, or France. Most countries import - that's a fact of life nowadays.
6 :
1. any day now....so they have been saying. but, hell, if I had a driver at my door 24 hrs a day, why would i care if i could drive or not. let someone else do all the work for me! 2. yes, a man can have up to 4 wives. in every other country, a man can have as many affairs as he wants. the difference is that they have to be all treated exactly equal. I've seen it done over here, and I am amazaed. the women seem to say it is to their advantage, not the man's. wow! 3. no one totally agrees with any ruler, but if it aint broke, dont fix it. i have yet to hear of any complaints 4. huh? everyone imports every thing especially electronics. what is your favorite brand? is it from your country?
7 :
Happy to oblige. 1) True. It's illegal for women to drive. Period. 2) True. Men can have up to four wives. False: they don't usually live peacefully. The men have to provide each with as much as their own house. 3) True. Political protests are unheard of. Everyone supports the King. The King supports the people and they don't have to pay taxes, they get free education, so why on earth would they protest? 4) True, technology is behind compared to Western countries. A lot is imported, as are workers and professionals with expertise. But hey, I bought some jello the other day that was made in Saudi Arabia so they don't import everything. And it was pretty good, too.
8 :
1) yup, we have drivers instead wich is in my opinion much better . lol . 2) men can have four wives max. if they are treated equally , but you rarely see this , its like 3% or something . 3) ya , nothings wrong with agreeing with your king , lol . ( hes a great man btw ) , and political protists are illegal , but people might talk between themselfes . 4) dont really get it , but its us that have the oil .
9 :
nothing else to add nono's answer was very informative

although I agree with all their answers.. its not as bad as it seems So women cant drive.. Ask women in N.York city if they drive, probably even some men even live their whole lives there without driving.. Well I have an americans drivers license, but im not hurting living here in Saudiarabia not driving.. I have never had a problem getting to where I want to go, when i want EVER.. There are taxis out the wazoo here, I can stand out on the street corner and within 2 min about 10 or more have driven by.. I have relatives that can drive me at a moments notice, neighbors that help, drivers. its all good.. and for some reason the west seems to think the average Saudi man marries 4 women.. You know just cause Islam allows it, doesnt mean its done.. You will rarely.. RARELY even find a two wive household.. I have never ever in my life heard of 3 or 4... .. Its just too expensive to keep up 2 households.. Cause in Islam it stipulates that the husband be fair and equal to each wife.. If he buys a house for #1. he has to buy the same and equal value/size for #2.. He has to divide his time equally between the both.. and etc etc etc.. in Islam even in theQuran, God says marry up to 4.. but be equal with them and God further says assuredly you cannot, so only marry one!... So right there God knows men and knows they cannot be equal, so actually Gods saying only marry one!... It takes a rare man to upkeep more than one women.. but the rule is there is there is that rare man... otherwise as to you other questions.. I agree with the above. nothing more to add that would be pertenant to this.. ^_^

In Saudi Arabia with a degree in computer or technology you should be able to get a job, and especially because you are a foreigner you are more likely to get a job, but only completing 2 years means maybe you won't get a job at a very sophisticated place, so I advise you to finish your 4 years and then come.
