My Fiance wants me to move to Saudi Arabia, to live in the American Compound. I don't know if I should go

My Fiance wants me to move to Saudi Arabia, to live in the American Compound. I don't know if I should go.....
Hi, My name is Tameka. My Fiance got a civilian contracting position in Saudi Arabia. He wants me to move there (along with our 3 children) to live in the American Compound.. Can someone give me some insight.. I live in the U.S. and I am kinda scarred to move there. Safety is a big issue for me, especially since I have my children that will be going as well. Am I stressing for no reason? Or, should I stay in the U.S. during his contract. I have a tattoo on my left hand of a cross, and I know that this country is prodominantly Islamic. I really hate being seperated from my Fiance, but I need reassurance that this is a good idea. Is it anything like Iraq or Afhganistan? Can someone please help me with this situation?

Girl, stay here with your kids where it's safe. YOu don't need to be there. He will return.
2 :
Yes,a very good idea,an unmarried mother of three going to Saudi Arabia. You will be buried up to the neck and stoned to death.Don't buy a return ticket.
3 :
I was deployed to Saudi last year so this is what Ive learned... women are treated like dirt, if you go out you will have to cover ALL showing skin, EVERYTHING. Now as far as dangerous i think its pretty safe, the crime rate is so near zero they list it as such, given what they do to offenders. But its no where near Iraq, or Afghanistan. Hope this helps.

My advice would be to go if it's at all possible on your own with your fiance to check it out. That way you could get a feel of the place and check out the safety and speak to people that live there and get their take on it. It would definitely be culture shock, but if your comfortable with the situation over there it could be a good growing experience for both you and your kids.

Muslims: What would happen to me if I was raised a Muslim in Saudi Arabia but I refuse to cover up

Muslims: What would happen to me if I was raised a Muslim in Saudi Arabia but I refuse to cover up?
I hear very often that Islam is the religion of Peace...so let's put that statement to the test. If I didn't believe in "Allah" and didn't want to cover myself and follow the rules for women, what would happen to me if I live in Saudi Arabia? I would like honest answers please

you will be lashed by the muttaween and your hubby, father, brothers or uncles will kill you ex muslim
2 :
I wont answer, I am not muslim. But you get a star.
3 :
Not believing in Allah can be punished by death. Not covering yourself would get you lashes, the number increasing with each offense. Persistant offenders would eventually be put to death. Religion of peace indeed.
4 :
You'd be in big trouble... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_Saudi_Arabia "Religious police enforce a modest code of dress; foreign women are also expected to wear abaya, violators may face caning, harassment or fines."
5 :
I think you could go to prison for the rest of your life. I don't know if they would cut of your head. They would if you became a christian. Or they would do an honor killing to protect the name of the family, which the dad would not be convicted for the killing, because you really let the family down and so it is OK to kill you. They will not admit to honor killings, but there have been too many of them to deny it. That is how they keep their women, daughters in line. Isn't it interesting if a son went out with the Christian, that would be ok. Even if he got drunk and had sex with her. If a man is in a car with a single woman. She goes to prison, he goes free. Wow, what a religion.
6 :
You would be guilty of all the sexual crimes men commit after they have seen your elbows. Really.
7 :
the question is that r u really muslim or not. if you are a muslim you should cover up you self in the way islam has said. if you are not a muslim then you dont have to cover your self. but when you said in saudi arabia. about that i dont really know but!! every country has their own laws.and you should respect that.
8 :
My (peace be upon him) men, shall take you to nearest arab sharia police station and gang rape you and later on the Majless shall sue your family and you get rattan beating 36 times. Nice huh?
9 :
Before I answer the question, it must be made clear that Islam is not defined by what happens in Saudi Arabia, just like Christianity for example, is not defined by what happens in America. To answer your question, it would depend on where you are living in Saudi Arabia. There are certain cities in Saudi Arabia where many many (and you would be surprised) non-Muslims live, and many of them do not cover themselves. Yet there are other cities where you would be made to cover, and yet there are other cities (like Makkah and Medinah) where you would not be allowed in to begin with, that is because these are the two holiest cities in Islam. Hope that helps. And thanks for asking before pre-judging a religion without being properly informed about it. Bye :)

i don't know because i don't know saudi law, but i can only imagine that you would go to jail or something like that because they have people who are paid to check and see if you have mahram with you and there are people who get paid to check hijab, in some parts. but like i said i really don't know. but islamically nothing should be done. but saudi arabia is a different case you might get into trouble
11 :
That depends on whether you are a Saudi national or a foreign person. If you are Saudi and you did that, you would be arrested and lashed for it by the police. Then themale members of your family would probably kill you if you did it again. If you were not a Saudi, you would be free to cover or not but you would not be allowed in Mecca. For an indepth comparison of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, check out my source.
12 :
One important point: Saudi Arabia does not represent the religion of Islam.
13 :
I agree with Mehran.. every country has its own law.. Well, I'm a moslem.. I don't cover my self up.. And I'm thanking God that I did not born and live in Saudi Arabia.. (okay, i'm not the best moslem in the world...so what??!) In Islam, the women are obligated to cover up their selves.. It would be a sin for not covering up.. But I've never heard (please correct me if I'm wrong) any statement that said in Al Quran, if a woman doesn't cover up or dress properly, than put her in jail.. or punish her..and absolutely not giving her a death penalty.. I think, if a woman doesn't cover them self up, then it would be their sin which they will held responsible latter to Allah.. So, it's not the government place to put that kind of rules.. but, like mehran's said.. every country has its own law.. And as an Islamic country, I think Saudi Arabia feels certain pressure to implement Islam's law.. So, they created strict policies to guarantee the implementation of those laws.. Saudi Arabia might be an Islamic country, but it does not mean that it's the country whose implementing Islam's laws best...
14 :
nothing at all
15 :
tell me what happened to Mexicans if they try to cross American border line illegal ???(at the same time most Mexicans are Christians)
16 :
well, if you were a Muslim, you should know that you have to cover yourself and you should know the fierce punishment of the Hereafter. if not, then move to a non-Muslim city.
17 :
May God bless you!! Islam is indeed a religion of peace but Wahabism is NOT. Wahabism is the most inhumane ideology, this world has ever seen. It teaches nothing but terrorism and massacre and unfortunately, this ideology is being exported to other Muslim countries too. Saudi Arabia is a state whose religion is Wahabism NOT Islam and hence you could expect the most inhumane behaviour imaginable if you didnt cover your head.
18 :
dear friend nothing will happen to u , if u want to know about islam, read about it do not hear or see it through some muslems practice, because there are so many muslems are giving islam abad name, and there are so many who are trying thier best to show islam as abad relegion, itis a kind of media thing . they always showes muslems as a terrorist ,or showing that muslem women are opressed. .. u will be amazed if u read about womens rights in islam. And believe me becauase i was in saudia arabia, the non-muslems are not obliged to cover thier heads.
19 :
Islam and Saudi Arabia are two separate entities, aside from the fact that the Ka`bah is in Saudi Arabia. The laws of Saudi Arabia often have nothing at all to do with Islam and even contradict Islamic principles and rules. I am a Muslim. I hate Saudi Arabia (government).

Have you tried contacting the American Embassy to see what the process is?
2 :
you could try getting a work visa that allows you to stay here in america for your job and after a certain amount of time it give you permanent access to live in the US Or if you can afford it you could apply into college and get a student visa that way you could get a higher education and have a job that allows you to stay here
3 :
Why not just stay where you are, gasoline is much cheaper where you're at. What is it, around 20 cents American for one gallon?
4 :
Well, if you're no longer married to your ex, it's not going to be easy. Your children can't sponsor you directly until they become adults. So, if you don't have any other close family members in the US, you won't qualify for most immigrant visas. You could apply for the Diversity Visa Lottery program, but chances of winning any particular year are not very good. Your ability to get a work visa would depend on your educational background and work experience. H1b visas for skilled workers require at least a university degree and you'd have to find an employer who's not only willing to hire you, but willing to wait until next April, as no more visas in this category will be available until then. However, those visas can lead to green card status.

4 :
you need to buy a tarp, it can be found in most car accessories shops, also consider putting a uv film on your windows to protect the car from sunlight and heat. a decent uv filter on the windows (dont put it dark because the police will make you remove it) can cost up to 2.000 sar - known places to make it : ziebart, Rivex, Cool Car, V Kool, 3 M. good luck
