I was in Saudi many years back.But I feel that for a comfortable living any where aroud SR.5000/- should be ok..If accommodation is given, one can save.

If the accomodation is provide by your employer, then it shouldn't be very expensive living in saudi. as food is cheap, and so is the gas. you should however make sure that your employer provide you with medical insurance as costs of doctors are expensive between 150-200 riyals for a visit to a dr. you will not be paying any taxes. so you will get your full salary. best is to shop in open markets for vegtables and fruits as they are much cheaper than the supermarkets. and you have to check prices because they differ from one supermarket to the other.

It depends on the degree of luxury you want to live in. If you are coming on a contract your accommodation, mostly, will be provided. Even the medical insurance and some times they give you a car. So mostly every thing will be covered for you. So I think 5000 SR is more than enough. But please check with them especially for the accommodation and the health coverage because they are the most important out there.

well bud it depends on what level of living you are looking for?? and is your employer will provide you accomodation and health insurance?? if these stuff are coverd you will survive with a SAR6000 (US $1600) if you will pay the accomodation and insurance, Dont even think about it unless you earn more than SAR9000 (US $2400). think about it twice because you are not a single and I dont think you want to take your family to unknown adventure right??
